Takedown requests

If something on the forum or the guide breaks the law or your rights, send a takedown notice. This follows section 77 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

What the notice must include

  1. Your full name and address.
  2. Your written or electronic signature.
  3. Which of your rights you say has been infringed.
  4. The material or activity you complain about, with a link to it.
  5. What you want us to do about it.
  6. Your phone number and email address, if you have them.
  7. A statement that you are acting in good faith.
  8. A statement that the information in the notice is, to your knowledge, true and correct.

A notice missing any of these is not a valid notice under section 77, but we still read it.

What happens next

We act quickly on a valid notice: we remove the material or block access to it, and we tell the person who posted it. If it turns out the notice was wrong, we may put the material back.

Section 77(2) makes anyone who sends a notice they know is materially false liable for the damage the takedown causes.

Industry body

None. We are not a member of an industry representative body.
