Moderation policy
The forum exists so people can help each other get through South African life. These rules keep it useful and safe.
Who moderates
Our moderators are people. An AI assistant may sort suggestions first, seeing the text with usernames, email addresses and ID numbers removed, but a person makes every decision.
Suggestions are checked first
Posts in the Suggestions category appear only after a moderator has read them. When a suggestion changes a guide, we check it against an official source and write the change ourselves.
Not allowed
- Anything illegal, or that helps someone break the law.
- Harassment, threats, or attacks on people for their race, gender, religion, nationality or any other part of who they are.
- Other people's personal details: ID numbers, addresses, phone numbers, photos of documents.
- Scams, spam, and ads that don't say they are ads.
- Pretending to be someone else, or to be an official office.
- Medical, legal or financial claims presented as official when they aren't.
- Material you don't have the right to share.
Your own ID number does not belong on the forum either. If you post it, we remove it.
What we do
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- edit or hide a post,
- send you a warning,
- stop you posting for a while,
- suspend or close your account.
We tell you what we did and why, unless doing so would put someone at risk or the law stops us.
Reporting and appeals
Flag any post that breaks these rules; a moderator reads every flag. To have unlawful material taken down, see takedown requests.
If you think we got it wrong, reply to the moderator's message or write to admin@zasurvivalguide.co.za within 30 days. We look at it again and tell you the outcome.
